Autumn Weekends

Dylan had a check up with his orthopaedic consultant on Friday. He is doing really well, the bone is perfectly aligned now and they hope to see new bone forming around the break at his next visit in three weeks. They said if they do see the new bone, then he can transfer to a half cast!
He's back to school and doing really well!
He is looking and feeling so much better this week, it's amazing how fast they heal, it's only a week ago and just look at the difference in him!

Today we put up our Halloween decorations, and went out and played in the leaves...

Lauren got a bit lazy on the way back...So Daddy gave her lift!

Then we went to the park on the way home to play for a little while...

I just love when they walk along holding hands, I don't think there is anything cuter in the world than little siblings holding hands.

**Melts my heart**

This was a really nice weekend, we relaxed and had fun together. I just love that these days we aren't all waiting for the weekend to fly by, knowing we won't see Daddy again for days...
It's so much better all living together again in the same place. I love our weekends together.....

I feel like the luckiest Mommy in the world to call these two little cuties my children. I love Autumn weekends!

Dylan's surgery

The past two days have been just harrowing, Dylan had his surgery at 2:30 pm yesterday, which took an hour, It was horrible. The worst part for me was when we had to bring him down for the anaesthesia, he was really upset and crying, then he went off to sleep and they tell you to give him a kiss, and they will call you when he is in recovery. I just left and cried my eyes out, I was beyond worried. It's horrible not knowing what is happening and waiting for your child to come out of an operation, we felt so helpless.

The next hour went horribly slow, when they called us he was really distressed in recovery. When they took him back to his room, I finally got him to settle down and rest and he was nice and calm, and so he slept on and off for the afternoon. The anaesthesic made him sick and they had to give him something to settle his stomach, then they tried him on some toast. When they were happy that he wasn't going to be sick again, and he wasn't in too much pain, they were happy to discharge him. We eventually got to take him home at 7:00pm last night. Poor Lauren missed him so much, she was worried too, and during the day when Dylan spoke with her on the phone his little face lit up. We were so happy to get him home!

I am so glad this whole experience is behind us. I am so proud of how brave and strong our little boy is. His arm should heal perfectly without any damage to his growth plates, he will be in a big cast - from his shoulder blade to the knuckles on his hands for eight days, and then they will probably change the cast to a smaller one then. He will probably be in the cast for six to eight weeks.

Here's my little soldier after his operation, it's been such a tough few days for him. I really hope we don't have to go through anything like this experience again. There is nothing worse than seeing your children hurting.

When he got back to his room after surgery

After surgery

Starting to come around a bit - showing off the medal he earned!

I don't think he'll be climbing any trees in a hurry!

Get well soon our brave little soldier... W e are so proud of you...
... We love you....

Dylan's broken arm & hospital stay

We are currently in the hospital, Dylan has broken his arm in two places, my poor little guy. He has been so brave, he was playing in his friends garden, and was climbing the tree when he fell and broke his arm. We rushed him straight to hospital where they x- rayed his arm, and put him in a temporary cast. He's had some morphine, and he's really comfortable now. He will have to have surgery in the morning. I am beyond myself with worry and fear. He is in good spirits though, and the doctor says it's a straightforward operation. But it is still an operation, and all anaesthetic carries a risk and this is what's worrying me.

I am praying it all goes well, so I can take my brave little guy home. I am so proud of him for being so strong. He is sleeping here now, and of course I can't sleep with worry, so decided to update on my phone to take my mind off things. I figure when he's feeling better he can look back at this post, and have a cool story to tell. I just really want my little boy to be ok. I know lots of children break their arms, you just never think it will be your child. I must tell him constantly not to be climbing on things. It just goes to show, no matter how much you mind them, you can't wrap them in cotton wool. Boys will be boys and climb trees, and naturally they will fall out of trees.

Look at my brave guy with his cast....

We love you..

I hope he will be better soon... Get better soon my brave boy!
I am so proud of you ...

Our trip to the National Wax Museum

Today we went to the National Wax Museum we went into town on the train to the 'waz zuzoom' as Lauren liked to call it! It was even cool on the outside!

Dylan really loved it, and Lauren...well I think her choice of words were ' I want to go home' over and over again! So she didn't like it quite so much, so she cuddled into Daddy THE WHOLE WAY AROUND!! So we only have photos of Dylan, for once he wanted to have his photo taken!

Then we headed back home on the train again, we went by the park on the way, because the weather was so nice today. it was just really windy (which explains why Lauren and I have such crazy wind hair in these photos. Derek and Dylan are lucky when it's windy out!) in the park we went crazy on the swings and slides, my little guys had a ball.... and now we are all nice and tired and ready for bed!

I'm looking forward to relaxing for the rest of the weekend...

Rainy days & shopping

This weekend has been really rainy, and you can see more and more leaves everywhere. Yesterday we went shopping for some bits and pieces, Lauren got her Halloween costume ( She is going to be Tinkerbell this year) and Lauren also had to get her new winter boots, which are adorable. Dylan had to get studded football boots for Rugby, and Derek and I had to get bits for work. So off we all went (in the rain) Look at the cuties all ready for the rain... compete with Spiderman and Dora the Explorer umbrellas!

When we got to the shopping centre, we went to Pizza Hut for lunch, where Lauren took her ordering very seriously!

Then we had ice-cream for dessert...

Where Daddy stole some of Dylan's ice-cream! Notice the pearls? they were my grandmother's costume pearls, and Lauren uses them for dress up...and the occasional lunch date! too cute...

You  may also have noticed Dylan's very tasteful Moshi Monster tattoos, which he is addicted to these days... He likes to cover his younger sister with them too! Thank god they wash off easily!! All the boys are addicted to them! He is so funny... maybe if he has them all now then he won't really be so interested in them when he gets older! (a parent can hope can't they? tattoos are fine, just not in the volume that Dylan has plastered them on himself... this would  not be so nice on an adult!!)

Today we are just taking it easy, getting organised for the week.... We went out for lunch, and Lauren wore her new boots the same way as mine, and brought her matching Cath Kidston bag! How cute is she!!

Dylan doesn't really let me dress him anymore, he is happiest these days wearing tracksuits bottoms and fleece tops... I miss dressing him up!

Right now both children are in their rooms on a time out. They have been killing each other all day, I am worn out with the two of them today. Dylan just annoyed her until she bit him. I'm finding Lauren's behaviour very challenging recently. I really hope that if I'm consistent with sending her to her room then she may improve. This is hard work!!! But I love them too much to have then behave like monsters! so I guess I'll have to stick with it...

Is it bed time yet?
