Lauren's school induction day

On Friday 27/05/13 we had Lauren's induction day at school as she is starting in September, and It didn't go amazingly well to say the least! She wouldn't really interact, and she didn't want to take part in the playtime in the yard. She is quite shy in new situations and with new people, so I wasn't really that surprised at all. I'm not hyping up school at all and I didn't make a big deal out of her behaviour, I just said nothing. I'm not going to worry about it too much right now as she went into Montessori just fine, so I hope she will surprise me on the first day of school too. Plus the fact that she is going to the same school as Dylan will really help, as she will know he is right there if she needs him.

I got some quick snaps on my phone... The cuteness

The teacher was giving us lots of tips to get them ready for school, some practical that we are already doing. She suggested that we let them play with sand, and get them to put pegs onto card and take them off again for their fine motor skills. So we got her a little padding pool and filled it up with sand, and she couldn't have been happier! She spent hours playing in the garden with the sand and shells!

I really feel this day has come around way too fast! I can hardly believe our baby is going to school in September... I mean HOW did that happen! You really do realise how much you need to cherish them when they are small, as they just grow so very fast.

Commuion Details

So I wanted to compile a little post of the little details from Dylan's communion, I want Dylan to be able to look back on this and see all the little details!

My parent's bought Dylan his communion rosette and medal,  the medal was silver with a gold chalice on the front. My mum had the back engraved with Dylan's name and the date of his communion, it looked great on him.

After the communion mass Dylan's school invited the children and their families to a reception at the school, the parent's association went to great lengths to organise a beautiful buffet for the families. There were fresh cakes and jelly and homemade flapjacks, they even organised goodie bags for the children. It was really nice for all the parents to meet and congratulate the children, it was a very special touch which we all loved. The school even made invitations for all the children to give to their families.

We ordered food from a catering company, and we got a delicious sponge cake, it wasn't very fancy but it was DELICIOUS!

We got him some beautiful balloons for his dinner table, they looked lovely on the tables and gave a really festive feel!

I had gorgeous invitations made, and they came with matching addressed envelops, they were really lovely. Everyone thought they were so beautiful.

He really enjoyed his special day!

We love you Dylan

Dylan's first Holy communion

Saturday 18th of May 2013 my first born child and only son made his first Holy communion. It's a big deal here, we shared a wonderful party with dear friends and family. Dylan had an amazing day and enjoyed every minute. Watching him in his white albs, so young and innocent and perfect in every way is an overwhelming experience for a patent. He worked for the past year preparing for this day and we were so very proud of him. He sang a solo song with another little girl, and they were adorable. My heart  couldn't get bigger with pride, it is like yesterday that we last dressed him all in white for his christening and carried him to the alter, and now he has made his first communion.

We had a party to celebrate with a giant bouncy castle, and an amazing photographer. I can't wait to see the pictures that captured one of the most special days of our life.

Until then here are a few snaps we took on our phones...

I can't wait for the proofs to come from the photographs we taken had on the day. I hope we got some nice ones!

Our Staycation

Last week my parents took Dylan and Lauren for a few days, so that Derek and I could have some time to ourselves! We really appreciated the break and we packed so much into our days! Originally we were going to go away for a few days, but we decided to stay home and do lots of nice things, we ate out a lot and slept in... It was such a treat!

On Monday when we got back from dropping the kids down to Mom and Dad, Derek and I climbed Killiney hill. It was well worth the thirty minute trek to the top, because when we got there there we were treated to the most amazing views. It was clear and warm, and you could see for miles, it was gorgeous.

When we got to the top we got to just enjoy the view and be together.... bliss!

On Tuesday we had to work, after work Derek took me out to dinner at the beautiful Chinese Sichuan restaurant near where we work. On Wednesday we went to see the cinema and saw Oblivion which I LOVED! (I'm a closet Tom fan) On Thursday I took Derek for a spa day.... which turned out to only be a spa morning, as he didn't have the patience to hang around! He was so awkward! I took him to celebrate his birthday which was last week. I couldn't think of what to get him this year! He said he did have a good time though! After the spa we went to Lunch near by and came home to have a nap! I'm beginning to get used to this life! Friday I spent the day getting organised for the communion party, and I also met some friends for lunch!

On Friday night we were reunited with the little ones, we missed them so much! Although I really appreciated having some time to ourselves, the house is so quiet without them around. I am so thankful for my amazing parents who allowed me to have some time alone with just the hubby!

This weekend was spent getting the house in order, I washed windows and Derek did lots of work in the garden, so it's all systems go for Dylan's communion. We are all really excited! We are going to have a really great celebration for our only son! Now off to get organised for the week coming up.... There's always work to be done really, especially when you are planning a party in your house and you have absolutely no idea what the weather will turn out like!
