All Aboard the Halloween Train

Today my friend and I took Lauren and her little boy to Rathwood to go on the Halloween train! They had a brilliant time! This year the theme was 'The Wizard of Oz,' and it was fantastic. Dylan was too old as it is recommended up to age 8, so it was perfect for Lauren and Matthew. First you go on a train ride through the grounds, then there is a walk through the forest to find the wicked witch!

After we went on the train, the kids got to pick their pumpkins and take it in their wheel barrow into the barn to carve it. Lauren picked the biggest pumpkin!

Inside the barn, Lauren wasn't very happy to see our name on the grave stone!!

Then it was time to carve our pumpkin, Dorothy and the Lion were only too happy to help us with this!

The trip was absolutely fantastic, and it was well worth the hour drive for our visit! I would highly recommend the trip for all little kids! I was sad that Dylan has outgrown these trips, he's getting very grown up! But Lauren thoroughly enjoyed the day, as did I!

Schoolwork Update

Just wanted to add a little update on school work! Both the kids are doing amazingly in school, next week are their parent-teacher meetings and I'm looking forward to what the teachers have to say.

Lauren is coming on in leaps and bounds with her reading, I noticed she was struggling a little recently. So I started reading with her a lot more and encouraging her to read instead of me reading TO her. The difference has been amazing, and I'm so proud of her, she is such a dilligent little student. It is a joy to see!

Dylan set himself a goal to improve his handwriting this year, and he has already mastered it! he got his 'pen license' which means he is now allowed to write in pen all the time in school! we are so proud of him, this was a goal he really set his mind to, he also has been generally working really hard in school, and it is definitely paying off. It is so evident f you look at all the positive feedback he is getting from his teachers! He is really showing us how he will work hard to achieve his goals.

We are so proud of these two! well done guys and keep up the good work
