Derek's 30th Birthday

This weekend was brilliant! We celebrated Derek's 30th birthday. I can't believe my husband is 30! I remember when he was 18!! It was quite emotional, I am so lucky to have such a special husband, and I am so happy that we celebrated this special birthday together. It is amazing how fast time goes by.

We had a party in The Oden bar in Dublin, and our closest friends and family were able to join us. We had cocktails and some dancing, and of course..... a great night! Here's the photos...

The kids also enjoyed spending some extra time with their Daddy. They made him some really special cards, I must add some pictures from Derek's birthday with the kids...

Happy 30th Birthday Derek

Painting and Pedicures

I wanted to add some of the kid's activities over the past few weeks, in case I forget to do it later.

I wanted to add our painting day, when we made Daddy a mug to tell him how much we love and miss him. Dylan and Lauren both really enjoyed doing that, although we had to leave Dylan do most of it, as Lauren isn't quite as handy with the paintbrush! He was so happy with the result, and he couldn't wait to give it to his Daddy, he is so thoughtful..... how adorable is he!?

I really had to add the photos of Lauren that I took the other day, they are hilarious, it just conveys her personality so much... everything just has to be perfect! And of course no outfit is complete without a bag full of well... Barney characters, some money and a broken barbie!!

And finally, the other evening when I was trying to do my pedicure, Lauren would not stop irritating me...  'do mine, do mine, mummy do mine' so this is the result of her persistence!

Yes that is a two year old with a french pedicure!! could she be more spoiled rotten!! to be honest it only took a second and she was so delighted waiting for them to dry and saying to everyone 'now, just like mommy,' it is adorable. She is going to be such a girlie girl when she grows up. She loves her nail polish and asks for lip gloss and her perfume and purse... I have to pretend to put all of those on her... don't worry she isn't going around with lip gloss, perfume and shocking pink nails! but she's happy, which makes me happy.

So off to work for a few days now. I'm really looking forward to the weekend, when Derek and I are going to have some time away, and a party to celebrate his 30th birthday! That will really get me through the week, because I can't wait!!!

Life is good really!

Easter 2011

Well what a Happy Easter we all had here. This is the first Easter that Lauren was able to take part in the Easter Egg hunt properly. Derek usually hides the eggs all over the house while I make up their Easter baskets. This year Derek hid some around the landing, and I had a feeling it wouldn't be a great idea, if Dylan woke early he'd know the Easter bunny had been and then he wouldn't go back to sleep! And of course that is what happened! At 6:30 am I hear his little footsteps and look at him to see him clutching some chocolate, I had to convince him that the Easter bunny was probably downstairs at the moment and he'd better go back to sleep quciky! Surprisingly it worked, and we got to sleep until 7:30 am!

They had a great time looking for the eggs, Lauren was only too happy to get right in there and help with the hunt. It was a great success, especially the grass that the naughty Easter bunny left in the sitting room! ...  Here are the photos (yes there are so many!) Can you spot Lauren's Easter bunny slippers?!!

After all the excitement in our house we went to mass, and after mass we went to the Easter market near our house, it was lovely with all the little tables and chairs and the music being played and all the stalls. Afterwards we went to my parent's house for Eater Sunday dinner and to celebrate the real reason for Easter, if you are catholic.

We decided not to get them eggs from us, because they get so many from the Easter bunny and from their Grandparents, so we got them some pretty signs for their bedroom doors, and they are super cute. Dylan has a football one, and Lauren's has a little pink heart and pretty gingham bows.

Their door signs... aren't they cute?

And so we rounded off the day as it started.. with more chocolate... one day won't hurt! I love the photo below of Lauren at the end of the day (the one on the couch)  She really looked like we all felt... shattered! I think they are so cute in these pics...

It was really great having Derek home for four days! And we have another bank holiday weekend again next week, and it will be Derek's 30th party! So God bless everyone this Easter, it was a lovely special one here in our house.

Making Easter Eggs

Today we made Easter eggs! well they are more like Easter chocolates, but whatever keeps them happy! Dylan was much more into it than Dylan, I guess Lauren is still too little for this and she was due her nap, so she wasn't very impressed with the Easter chocolates!

Do you see that face, she even whined while eating the chocolate! Maybe I should have waited until she'd had her nap.

Dylan was delighted with himself, he brought the chocolates out to his friends to eat when he was finished. The weather has been amazing the last few days, Dylan spent the whole day outside playing with his friends. I packed away all of my Winter knits and put them into the vacuum pack bags, and transferred all of my Spring/summer clothes into my wardrobe! I'm very proud of myself! Tomorrow I have to get the kids clothes ready for Easter Sunday, thank goodness I'm feeling better today, now if only I could get rid of this numb lip feeling!

So we're off now to enjoy some more sunshine....

Happy almost Easter!
