Afternoon Tea

Today was my first day back being a Mommy for nearly three days, it was tough watching the kids! It didn't help that Dylan is on his Easter holidays from school. So I had both kiddies running wild all day, and one very sore pain in the jaw!

The weather was so lovely that I decided to bring them into the garden to make the most of it. We had a tea party, and Dylan played some football. I can't wait for the summer!

The kids really enjoyed their tea party, I set up Lauren's tea set with some juice inside and put some snacks on the plates, and they had it all on their picnic bench, (which might I add hasn't been sanded down and varnished yet for the season, so I laid some old place mats on it) it was so cute!

Here's some photos from our afternoon tea party...

My Dad will be annoyed at me for putting up these pictures before he's done his 'summer weeding' sorry Dad sometimes the photos have to go up for lovely memories, weeded gardens or not!!

P.S. Dylan dressed himself today! Don't ask...at least he let me take some photos! The astro turf football boots he's wearing we bought when we went away Mother's day weekend three weeks ago!!! They are already ruined!!!! Boys!! I should also add that his football coach says he is getting really good, and whoever they put against him, he still wins! I'm so proud of him.

Well tomorrow I have plan to make Easter eggs with them! So I hope I'm feelig up to it, because it's going to be messy!!

My surgery (part 2)

Well all I can say is I was lulled into one hell of a false sense of security with regard to pain after my surgery I have been in absolute agony the past few days. I'm talking tears, being sick, overnight doctor visits for more painkillers and antibiotics. That is not to mention going to the dentist today to have my stitches opened, my wound cleared out and packed again. I have never in all my life felt so much pain for such a prolonged period of time. I have woken up in tears the past three nights in a row, I am praying to God that I can actually get some sleep tonight. I am zonked from the painkillers, I feel like my jaw is actually broken... I have so much pity for people who have to live in constant pain like this all the time. I have renewed respect for those poor people.

Derek headed back to Dublin tonight, so I've had to come over to my parent's house, so my mum can help me with the kids. I mean I can't even eat.... I so hope that I am feeling better tomorrow, I'm due to be back in work on Thursday, and right now that is looking very unlikely. Poor Derek is worn out looking after me, he's had to take so much time off work. I am so grateful to him and to my wonderful family that has taken such good care of me these past few days.... It's at times like these that you realise you can't survive in this world alone! I am so lucky to have family to turn to....

Thanks to my amazing family...

Mother's Day 2012

I had a brilliant Mother's day today. I've enjoyed every minute of it, I woke up this morning to a beautiful card written by Dylan, and a box of chocolates and a bunch of my favourite flowers... tulips!

I had a lovely cooked breakfast and then we headed to Dun Laoghaire. The Farmer's market was on and so we walked around the stalls, and then we went for some coffee and muffins in the Victorian tea rooms.

We stopped to see some street performers, the kids were transfixed... it was so cute

Then we went for a stroll along the pier, the weather was absolutely gorgeous.
We stopped off at the rock pools to throw pebbles in the water...

I am so blessed to be a Mother on Mother's day! I am also lucky to call these little angels my children...

I love them more than words

And to my own Mother on Mother's day, I love you and appreciate you. I'm not spending this Mother's day with my Mom as she is gone away for the weekend, but I hope she will get her card when she gets home. I miss her every day, and wish that we could live a little closer.

Here's a few pictures of my Mom and I over the years, and at my 21st birthday party...

I love you Mum... Happy Mother's day....

New design

I changed my template. I don't know why I do it, it makes me obsessed with fixing the all the entries from the past!!!!

My surgery

So it was Mommy and Lauren who were the patients in our house this week, Lauren with her big eye appointment and me with my dental surgery!

Lauren did so well on the train she was a little dream, and in the hospital she was an angel, all up until the nurse put the drops in her eyes to dilate her pupils, and the consultant wanted to shine the light in her eyes! then she clamped them shut and wasn't having any more of it! so we couldn't see if she needs a prescription for glasses or not. The preliminary tests showed that she was farsighted, so the consultant is referring us to someone closer to home, and our appointment should be in three months time! I hope she will let us have a look then! I'm trying to convince myself that it wasn't a wasted journey. I'm proud of her for doing so well though. She is only little!

So yesterday I went in for my surgery to remove an impacted wisom tooth. I was very nervous, but it was fine, not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I slept most of the day yesterday, it's very uncomfortable when the pain killers wear off. Although I'm coping much better than I thought and to look at me you wouldn't even know I'd had surgery. I heard horror stories of swollen jaws and bruises! The surgeon was really happy with the outcome, she had been worried about my nerve being so close to my tooth and was afraid it would be damaged, but it was completely intact after the tooth came out! So I'm so relieved about that. She said I may have numbness for up to two weeks, but I can already feel my entire face just fine! So I'm delighted with that.

I can't believe I'm going to add a pic of me before my surgery... but sure here goes!

(Derek took the pic of me on his phone before I went in... I look absolutely terrible! ahhh)

So now I'm off work for a week to recover. Derek has taken four days off to take care of me and the kids too. It's great to have him here with me. I was so scared yesterday and he stayed with me right up until they took me into surgery and then he was right there waiting for me when I got out. He sat with me and gave me water, and looked after me, he was amazing. I'm so lucky to have such a special husband. Thanks for taking such good care of me baby! Well I'm jsut so glad it's all over. For the longest time general anaesthesia has been my biggest fear, I'm so proud of myself for getting through it all.

I also wanted to add that Dylan got the 'best boy in the class' star this week, for his good behaviour! that's the second time he's gotten it! I'm so proud of him. He's really embraced all the change in his liitle life and he's showing how strong he is. He was a little upset last night when he thought I was sick, but he felt better when he saw me and realised that I was just fine! so well done Dylan, we love you!

I'm off to bed now to sleep off the painkillers, they're leaving me slightly drowsy.... Now if only the tooth fairy came to grown ups!

Family Update 11/04/11

Derek ran the Great Ireland Run in under an hour! He did really great, and I'm so proud of him! I hope next year I'll get the chance to go along with him, I hated not being there to cheer him on.

We have Lauren's big eye assessment tomorrow with her consultant, we are checking to see if there are any signs of astigmatism like Dylan, and also for any signs of a turn in her eye, which we are concerned about. I'm really hoping that it goes well. I've started talking to her about it already, because she doesn't like new situations or people examining her. It is going to be so stressful, especially if they want to put drops in her eyes to dilate her pupils before she goes into her consultant. I'm dreading that bit, I hate to see my baby upset. I really hope she gets the all clear for another year... Fingers crossed!
Dylan is going to stay with my Mum after school, I can't have him missing school.

Dylan was invited to his first birthday party in his new school. It was on yesterday in the soft play centre near where we live. He had a brilliant time, I was so relived to see him enjoy himself, I worry every single day about him settling in. I think I'm more worried than I need to be. His school work is coming on really well, he reads excellently for his age now, I am so happy that I put in all that extra time with him, because it was worth it to see him look at things and read them now in everyday life. I am so proud of him. He has his eye assessment with his consultant in June, I know he's stayed about the same.

I just want to make sure we catch anything early on with Lauren if there is anything there, and then maybe prevent it from getting worse.

The weather has been beautiful here the last few days. There is the promise of the beautiful summer to come! We're also starting to plan Derek's 30th birthday party, which we're having at the end of the month, and I'll be going in for my impacted wisdom tooth extraction on Thursday, which I am absolutely dreading......

So that's all the news at the moment..

Until next time..

Mother's Day 2011 & Our weekend away

On Mother's Day this year, I spent a lovely day with these two angels...

Dylan picked out the flowers for his mommy all by himself! isn't he so sweet, Daddy treated me to some Yankie candles too, to say thank you for being Mummy to his babies! aw bless!

We were away for the weekend, but sadly before we went Dylan's temperature spiked really high and he wasn't feeling very well at all, we gave him something to take down his temp, but look at this sad face...

My poor little baby... then Lauren woke up and this is what we got....

She woke up the same way, we thought we'd have to cancel the trip, but when we woke up the next morning everybody was ok!

Here are some photos from our weekend away, and from when we got home...

We visited family and just relaxed....

This week was busy too, so today we're just hanging around at home chilling out, we brought the kids swimming this morning and they had a great time, Derek is running the Great Ireland Run tomorrow so I can't wait to see what time he runs it it. I can't go as I've to work on Monday!

I love weekends like this, when we're all together and having fun...
